About Our Founder:
Joseph Tsai

I am a seasoned leader with almost three decades of experience in managing people and teams, and creating environments where people can thrive.

Born in Taiwan and educated in the United States, I graduated with distinction from The University of Pennsylvania with degrees in business and computer engineering. My love of multicultural, multilingual, and dynamic environments has brought me back and forth between Japan and the United States, and I am now happily located once again in Tokyo.

I am a passionate believer in the power of people-centered workplace and organizational culture.

I believe that there is tremendous potential in every person

and that unleashing that potential is most possible when people

are healthy,

feel safe,

and feel cared for.

As a veteran of many industries — investment banking, software, information services, and consulting — I have seen and experienced first-hand the many ways that corporate culture can be toxic. The result is always the same: employees who feel unmotivated, marginalized, and unvalued, who feel like disposable parts of a machine, and so much potential buried and lost.

However, in the same organizations and landscape I have also witnessed, and personally created, the opposite — environments and cultures that prioritized the well-being and needs of the people who are involved. The results are amazing yet consistent: people who are energized, inspired, and creative, and positive outcomes flourish.

The hard-earned lesson of my experiences is that culture is the determining factor of outcomes; that leaders — at every level — influence culture more than anyone else; and that people-centered leadership can be taught and learned. 


My confidence comes from experience as an advisor and mentor to leaders, managers, and colleagues, from early career to mid-level to seasoned executives, in the connections between leadership, organizational culture, well-being, productivity, and performance. In my most recent role as a senior manager of employee experience in a large global software company, I was an award-winning thought leader on employee engagement, employee well-being, and culture of safety in the workplace. I advised and coached executives and leaders, reviewed and guided company programs, initiatives, and processes to improve workplace culture, led equity and inclusion efforts, and formulated a company-wide psychological safety strategy.
